HURRICANE IN THE NOR'-WEST.
HEAVY RAINS.
Roebourne, March 21.
The very peculiar weather which has been experienced for the last five days culminated yesterday in a strong hurricane, which was accompanied by heavy rains. A fall of 11 in. 95 points was registered at Roebourne, and nearly 3in. at Cossack, the latter reading being evidently incorrect, as the Cossack residents estimate the fall at 12in. Heavy rains have also fallen at Balla Balla and Whim Creek, but owing to the telegraph lines being down no authentic information is available.
Very little damage was done to property in Roebourne or Cossack, but the tram line was washed away in places. It will be a fortnight before the tram will be able to recommence running. The Marsh road is impassable. It is feared that a heavy loss of stock has taken place out east.
