Dear Sir,

On receipt of your telegram at Cossack instructing me to

proceed again on search for the S.S. Koombana from Balla Balla.

I have to report that from information gained as to direc-

tion of wind during storm, I decided to follow Capt. Irvine's

suggestion in part.

The enclosed rough tracing will give you my courses, chart

475 North West Coast of Australia.

The wreckage picked up is undoubtedly from S.S. "Koombana"

and to my mind, she is lost somewhere in the vicinity of Bedout

Island.

The time lost on this search is [? 6] days and the coal con-

sumed about 100 tons. I shall probably have to coal again at

Batavia.

Yours faithfully,

A. Mills. [typed not signed]
