Dr Crippen lived at 39 Hilldrop Crescent in Tufnell Park (now demolished), where he famously murdered his wife.

By 1910, the neighborhood had slightly fallen off the social scale and sat balanced between the starched-collar middle-class and the gingham quilt of working laborers.
