The Police Benefit Fund.

The Colonial Secretary has arranged with the Acting Chief Electoral Officer (Mr. E. Wells) to conduct the ballot for the election of a nominee of the police force on the Police Benefit Fund Board, and ballot-papers giving explicit instructions have been sent to every member of the force. The ballot will close on July 10. The question which the voters are required to answer is whether they are in favour of being represented on the Board by a contributor in lieu of the Commissioner of Police. If they answer in the affirmative they must write down the name and rank of the contributor whom they wish to represent them. The officers who have been nominated for the position are: Corporal John T. Brodie (No. 106), Constable Edward Campbell (No. 188), Sergeant Thomas Connor (No. 26), Sergeant Michael Leen (No. 88), Sergeant Michael Moore (No. 222), Sergeant Thomas Parkinson (No. 80), Sergeant John Smith (No. 110), Sergeant Herbert Thomas (No. 94), and Corporal Robert Whiteside (No. 65).
