THE ABORIGINES.—The Government are evidently making big efforts to satisfactorily grapple with the native problem, and with that end in view tbe Chief Protector of Aborigines (Mr. G. F. Gale) is proceeding to the Kimberleys by the s.s. Koombana. He intends making a comprehensive tour of the stations in the Far North, and will probably spend two or three months on the present occasion in travelling from one to another.
VISITING LEGISLATORS.—Sir E. H. Wittenoom and Mr. R. W. Pennefather, Ms.L.C., are proceeding north by the s.s. Koombana. During the stay of that vessel in port on Monday both gentlemen visited the town and in company with Mr. Butcher, M.L.A., were present at St George’s Church in the evening when the enthronement of the Bishop of the Nor’-West took place. Sir Edward Wittenoom informed us that he anticipates being in Carnarvon for the next race and show and that he will then deliver a political address.
