The "Torres Straits Pilot" reports the finding recently of a splendid "button" pearl by the boats of the Tarawa fleet, the gem being almost perfect in lustre, weighing forty carats, shaped like a button, but of greater body; value, between £300 and £400. Another boat picked up a beautiful pearl also, similar in shape, and nearly as large; value, about £250.
