For more than a month after our arrival London experienced a succession of high gales and heavy snowstorms, but work at the Exhibition went on apace, most of the buildings having been made ready for the reception of the exhibits pouring in from the Dominions by every mail steamer.

Malcolm Fraser and Alpin Thomson represented Western Australia and their Court was well arranged and imposing. Much interest was taken in some alluvial gold that had been recently discovered in the Kimberley district before the Murchison or Coolgardie fields were heard of, and a magnificent log of jarrah, with polished section, pearl shells and the wonderful Southern Cross pearl shown by Streeters attracted much notice and assisted to make a very fine show.
