GOOD REPORTS FROM PORT HEDLAND.
THE WATER DIFFICULTY.
Port Hedland, Oct. 5.
A large number of luggers have called in during the past few weeks. Most of them have been pearling just outside this port with great success. Two tons 16cwt. were secured by two boats in a week, and others report splendid hauls. It is stated that if the war does not last long there will be a large number of pearlers making Port Hedland their headquarters next year. At present the great drawback is the want of water, and the general opinion is that the Government should provide a supply, which must bring in a good revenue owing to the large amount of stock going through this port. At present the animals cannot get a drop of water to drink after being yarded.
